Four Poster Bed - The Linenfold carved design
Details Linenfold carving or parchment folds were first introduced into English furniture and joinery during the early Gothic period, being the last quarter of the 15th century. This magnificent Bylaw oak bed has twelve such carved panels... eight in the headboard and four in the footboard. The bed is designed to accept a divan base and mattress 60ins wide x 78ins long and its over-all height is 78ins... a fairly typical height for domestic full tester oak beds of the 15th to 17th centuries.
